I’ve been doing a bit of soul searching lately about my approach to design. Over the years, I’ve pretty much designed rooms in almost any style requested and enjoyed every minute. Lately, I’ve been yearning to stay closer to what’s true to me…a neutral base, with generous pops of color like Boston-based designers Terrat Elms. Decorating in this way is never boring…see there’s always room for a sunny, yet soothing yellow sofa.
Continue to “yellow thread” throughout the open floor plan for a cohesive look. Yet, the main floor doesn’t scream yellow. I could live here…
Orange is also introduced here into this citrusy palette, along with other shades of gray. Pattern about. Again neutral is never boring.
Here’s the only room that’s void of color, but it is abounding in texture. If you’re yearning for just a little color, replace the artwork and accent pillow with something a little more vibrant.

I’m currently designing a formal living room and family room for a client who has a “safe” design personality. She’s allowed me to take her outside the box and purchase a green tufted ottoman. I can’t wait to show you how this plan is coming together. Here’s a sneak peek of the selected fabrics.
and the sofa
You’re going to have to wait to see the rest of the plan which should be finalized by next week!
