On Saturday, by default (he didn’t want to look for the remote), my husband watched an episode of Christopher Lowell’s show on the Fine Living Network where he designed this two story living room.

Then his grumbling began about our two story family room. We then started to discuss a wish list for the room.

Of course I was already prepared to show him inspiration photos I gathered…I’m way ahead of him on this one!

Before the momentum wore off, I quickly phoned my drapery consultant to come over and give us a price on a simple, contemporary window treatment with this fabric and hardware.

During our meeting, my husband learned these panels are not functional, but strictly for aesthetics.  It’s so funny how his thoughts were directed toward function, mine beauty then function! As for the lower windows, I would love to leave them bare, but I think I will be overruled…Oh well, you win some you lose some.  It’s funny how this all came about from him involuntarily watching ONE design show…I’m just so happy this project will take place sooner than later.

Well! My husband would rather do the dishes or laundry than to watch a design show with me!!! I'm loving your inspiration photos!

  2. pk @ Room Remix says:

That is too funny. That is exactly the only reason my husband would watch a design show is that he didn't want to get up and get the remote! 🙂 Your plans sound great. It will be fun to see it come together.

I love the look..I am on the fence about CL though. I watch his shows sometimes…I think he can sometimes jam a bit to much stuff in a room. But other than that…he is ok..Now the above room is perfecto for it. He did a great job.

Having beautiful curtains really makes a difference in a room! I would definitely go for it since you have such awesome walls. And oooh how gorgeous the two canvanses over your mantel would be! Swoon.

The first image, 2 mirrors, isn't that an inexpensive way to add drama and height to a 2 story room! And I love your inspiration photos as well! I adore those extra long drapes!

  11. Sarah La Rose says:

I LOVE the violet room panels and wish I had double height rooms to fill with gorgeous drapes.

I love the yellow room! I think it's so cheerful! Double height rooms are great, they always have so much light!

totally curious to see the results…i am constantly overwhelmed at the incredibly tall white walls and bare windows that adorn my friends homes in the new part of town. i'm a bit envious of all the light and potential…but still so underwhelmed by the continual lack of design applied to this modern build style. oh, and the burnt chocolate silk drapes – my mouth is watering. becky
