You have no idea how excited I am. Seriously, NO. IDEA.

This fall kicks off Room Service Atlanta‘s second annual service project. If you are new to the blog, then you may not be familiar with this organization and how it all got started.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Co-founded in 2010 by myself and Interior Designer Dayka Robinson, Room Service Atlanta is an organization that gathers Architecture and Interior Design professionals as well as design enthusiast together in an effort to redesign shelters and housing organizations throughout the Metro Atlanta area. This organization was the perfect means to share the craft we love with those forgotten folks who deserve a comfortable and well-designed place to lay their heads at night.

DESERVING DESIGN DELIVERED

Our 2011 service project at Nicholas House was a raving success. We received great press from Atlanta Magazine, coverage from 11Alive news, and celebrated with a wrap party given by our premier sponsor, Mitchell Gold Bob Williams Atlanta.

This year’s beneficiary is the United Methodist Children s Home in Decatur. We are servicing  their Independent Living Program, which is a voluntary program for youth 17-21 who are aging out of DFCS (Department of Family & Children’s Services) custody and are ready for a decreased level of supervision as they prepare for Independence. This programs offers on “campus” housing as well as teaching daily living skills, support & guidance for educational/employment opportunities, and assists with medical/mental health services.

We’ve assembled a team of 16 incredible designers, some you may already know, who are each tackling each room in this cottage that will house  young men. Each designer has committed to this pro bono effort and is responsible for securing all of the materials for their own space. As you can guess, an undertaking like this is not possible without help from our local and online community!

WE NEED YOU.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED…EVEN IF YOU ARE REALLY BUSY.

This is also a wonderful opportunity to align yourself with an extended network of Interior Designers, Architects, Contractors & tradespeople that have the same passion and heart for the community as you do.

We’re a very social media savvy group, aren’t we? With our blogs, Facebook pages, and Twitter/Instagram accounts we all (including you) can really spread the word! Your generous contribution will not go unnoticed! Please mention us on
