The GATHERING ROOM on Lullwater

Accommodating. Approachable. Elegant.

This family home located in one of my most favorite historic Atlanta neighborhoods, Druid Hills, is truly a work of art. We’re currently working in the back of the house which has amazing views of their sprawling backyard. The amount of sunlight these rooms get courtesy of the skylights and walls of windows and doors should make getting their morning dose of Vitamin D pretty easy.

The family’s love of the mountains and European destinations lends itself to a warm design aesthetic that encourages long fireside conversations with multiple, comfortable seating options.

We loved the owners’ handsome leather sofa, though we had the permission to replace it. It had a bit of wear, but not too much. It was just enough that it became one of the characteristics that makes leather so great. Wear equals warmth and comfort.

Across from the leather sofa we have two of these chairs on order. **I’ll update this post with a picture once they arrive** So comfortable, the distressed wood on the turned frame speaks to the weathered wood of the cocktail table, console table, and the barstool which you’ll see later in the post.

As with most of our projects, we used a combination of both custom and readymade throw pillows. The lead fabric is this gorgeous Jacobean print from Fabricut. Out of the four fabric combinations we presented, it was an instant hit! Therefore we made two Roman shades in the kitchen and two throw pillows in the family room using this pattern.

Below is a closer look at the “crusty” and distressed details from the table lamps and console.

We moved the old breakfast table to the covered outdoor sunroom (can wait to show you what’s happening out there) and replaced it with a refined combination featuring a traditional, two toned wood pedestal table and chairs with a contemporary silhouette.

You can get an even better look at our lead fabric here on the Roman shade. Its spritely pattern is energetic and bright for this happy, young family. In the gallery, we installed a generous console table which allowed us to give them a large mirror to reflect even more sunlight from the wall of windows during the day and additional lighting in the evening.

Lastly, we brought in a cheerful outlook into the butler’s pantry with a raspberry linen Roman shade finished with a wide trim.
