The team at Southern Living Magazine welcomes you to tour the 2014 Southern Living Idea House! Open to the public until December 14th, 2014, the home in Palmetto Bluff is loaded with lowcountry charm including South Carolina’s iconic palms, freshwater creeks, and loads of design inspiration for your home. Atlanta’s own Suzanne Kasler does an amazing job with the interior design of the home where she features furnishings and fabrics in a palette of soothing neutrals and healing blues. You’ll also find items throughout the home from her signature collection with Ballard Designs.
What I love most about idea homes is the fresh perspective they offer on living spaces. See how Suzanne created two separate conversation areas in this two story living room? There’s one custom sisal rug that runs the length of the room, while the main seating area boasts a softer rug layered for texture. The slipcovered furnishings create a family friendly living area, yet provides the sophistication expected of a great room.
The effortlessly stylish dining area sits in a pass through area of the home. The sculptural elements like the wall mirror, pendant lighting, and table decor makes turns the dining room into a space that is highly fashionable when not in use, yet is casual enough to be functional.
With sight-lines to both the living room and the dining room, the kitchen still maintains it’s reputation as the heart of the home. Equipped with high end appliances and an island built for cooking and entertaining, you would be hard pressed to find an inconvenience here.

Hate to be a tease, but there so much more to see at the Southern Living Idea House! It’s a 4-hour drive from Atlanta and a great idea for a day trip with friends who are also design enthusiasts! For those who cannot make it in person check out this video.
