In a post earlier this week I shared with you the release of the Spring 2016 High Point Market Style Report. Within the report I named two emerging trends—Scalloped Edges (click to see summary) and Eternal Florals.
What are exactly Eternal Florals?
It’s pretty much how it sounds. They are flowers that last forever. One of my favorite quotes by Frida Kahlo captures the essence of this very trend,
“I paint flowers so they will not die”
Where paint was her medium of expression, I spotted a trend where artisans crafted flowers from copper, bronze, German steel, or even crystals and precious stones.
Behold the artistry of Tommy Mitchell.
A set of Asian-inspired panels feature cherry blossoms crafted from copper, brass, and steel. The entire Tommy Mitchell showroom featured one awe-inspiring statement piece after another.
If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then the Budding Crystal Floor Lamp by John-Richard Collection would be her BFF. The breathtaking crystals along with its black marble base makes this floor lamp a heavy-weight. Pun intended. It’s a knockout piece that can hold its own against the finest crystal chandelier.
On a much smaller scale, the Celestite Single and Double Blooms also from John-Richard Collection, make an impressive gift for that someone special.
Described by Bernhardt Interiors as a flickering Light, the Sasha Chair wears an organic Neo-Nouveau floral pattern that’s hand-carved in wood and then hand-clad in glimmering German silver on this classic barrelback swivel chair. It’s classic in structure and artful in expression.
After spring market, I incorporated this trend on a recent client project. See how bright it shines in my client’s great room?
