Fortunately there hasn’t been a shortage of inspiring rooms this year. However, there are a few living rooms that have turned my head and inspired a couple of my client projects. Livable luxury has been my theme for this year and these livable living rooms are stunning enough to be considered formal rooms yet feel approachable. New traditional, as they call it, has stolen my heart and you will see a lot more of it here on my blog and in my work as we approach a new year. Let’s take a look at the most stunning yet livable living rooms of 2015 and my suggestions on how you can achieve each look.

Gray painted rooms are alive and well especially when paired with luxurious silk yellow drapery panels. The vibrant hue is repeated on the slick coffee table followed by more subtle accents featuring yellow piping on the gray tufted chairs and muted throw pillows with a yellow graphic pattern. Be sure to check out this room if you love this combination.

We are enamored with the color blue whether it’s indigo or an electrifying cobalt blue. Bold furniture choices look lovely when tempered by a natural rug. Why not take a chance this year and indulge yourself in a piece of velvet upholstered furniture in your favorite color? Have an amazing piece of contemporary art? Allow it to be your guide when choosing your featured color.

You’d have to agree that the stunning French chandelier is the launching point for this warm white living room. Warm white? Yes! When a room combines white with soft taupe and layered in textures it becomes more hospitable and less like a hospital. Gilded accessories like the antique brass mirror further the warming effect.

Primed for engaging conversations, this living room boasts seating for seven, make that nine if a couple wants to join in at the upholstered bench.

Soft furniture lines, a black and white palette punctuated with pink, and natural materials makes this lounge perfect for a dressing room or lady’s home office.

Benjamin Moore’s Briarwood creates a beautiful backdrop for a palette of soft green and gray. The rug graphic rug makes a power statement on the floor while the Juju hat in the background gives the room a certain j’en sais quoi. An oversized abstract painting anchors the sofa between the two windows.
