Today Room Service Atlanta has joined forces with Olioboard to spread the word about this month’s OlioHop entitled Charity Causes. I, along, with 9 other interior designers were selected to spotlight our respective charities while also showing you the great things you can do with Olioboard.

An OlioHop is a monthly virtual party where theme-based moodboards are shared. I’m thrilled to be a part of this month hop, Charity Causes.

[hr] CHARITY CAUSES – ROOM SERVICE ATLANTA

Last Fall, Room Service Atlanta gathered 20 interior designers and a host of generous vendors and suppliers to completely transform the Sam Bell Cottage. Located on the campus of the United Methodist Children’s Home in Decatur, Georgia, the Sam Bell Cottage houses young men ages 17-21 who are a part of the Transitional Living Program. This program provides young adults with the tools they need to succeed as they progress into independent living. Click here to see the before and after room makeovers from this 2012 service project.

Building upon the successful of Sam Bell Cottage, a high-spirited Open House, and well-attended wrap up party we resolved to give the girls’ cottage a makeover as well!

Using Olioboard, I’ve provided an example of what can be achieved in the girls’ cottage with your help!

BEFORE

AFTER

Can you imagine the healing that would take place in a room this beautiful? Many of the young adults that live here at UMCH have been in foster care for most of their lives. Picture yourself traveling from family to family and never having a permanent place to truly call home. It’s heartbreaking to say the least.

Here in Williams Cottage a blossoming young woman has one room which serves as her living quarters. In this studio-style space she will sleep, prepare small meals, and have the privacy of an en suite bathroom. Thanks to United Methodist Children’s Home she has a warm, safe place to live. And with your generous support through Room Service Atlanta she will also have a beautiful space that will uplift and inspire her as she transitions into adulthood.

Here’s How You Can Help!

Room Service Atlanta is currently seeking donations to assist us in designing beautiful, relaxing, and functional spaces which we believe everyone deserves to enjoy. Furniture, artwork, lighting, bedding, window treatments, floor coverings, paint, and other home improvement items would greatly enhance the living spaces at United Methodist Children’s Home and aid in our efforts to bring security & comfort to Atlanta youth when they need it most. United Methodist Children’s Home is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are fully tax-deductible.
