Could the Mommy and Me home office be a new trend for 2013?
It was a question that Annette Joseph, friend and producer of my feature for Better Homes and Gardens, asked via Facebook. I think she was lightweight joking, but I immediately felt there is some validity to it. As I work towards obtaining an office space away from home, it is my current reality, see…
My day to day operations of Erika Ward Interiors takes place here as well as my work as co-founder of Room Service Atlanta. I’ve had client meetings here, interviewed interns, and recorded promotional videos all here in this office. At my home.
My school-aged children are away during much of the day, in the afternoon they return home to hunker down with me for a couple hours to do homework, computer games, or a craft while I finish up for the day. Remember when I posted my daily schedule? Click here.
Working like this has truly helped me to be productive as a business owner and a mother of four.
It was a dream come true to be featured in the January 2013 issue of Better Homes and Gardens, on newsstands now. I commend them and Annette Joseph for having the foresight to see that biz moms are viable entrepreneurs in our economy AND effective parents.

For all you parents/non-parents, I hope this feature helps you get your rear into gear for the new year regarding organization!
In the upcoming weeks, I’ll be posting about another real life home office design dilemma of Tara Pringle Jefferson, Editor of the #1 site for young mothers, The Young Mommy Life. This is going to be fun. You don’t want to miss it!
