Katlyne Hill Photography

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is refreshed from the weekend and ready to kick off a productive week. I worked this past weekend on updating my portfolio with professionally shot images. I hired my long time friend and photographer Katlyne Hill for the first assignment starting at Broughton Square.

Katlyne is the same photographer that does my headshots and family photos and wanted to try her hand at photographing interiors.

Photographing interiors is much more challenging and time consuming than taking portraits. We were on location from 11am – 4pm. The biggest challenge is probably light control. Shooting in natural sunlight is preferred and often times we’d have to wait for the sun reappear from the shade. Sure you can always turn on the lights, but co-mingling artificial and natural sunlight doesn’t always produce the best outcome.

I also called another good friend and fellow interior designer Sherry Hart to help with photo styling. Sherry does a beautiful job at setting the scene with flowers and just the right amount of props to help you imagine yourself living in a decorated space. I want my portfolio to have a editorial feel, much like the photos you see in interior design magazines.Broughton Square Photoshoot

It’ll be a few days before I get the final shots back, but here are a few Sherry took with her iPhone!IMG_5854.JPG Soo good, right? Much better than the ones I took with my phone last year. This is what happens when you shoot with the lights on…

See the yellowy cast in my image compared to hers? So glad I have people around me to nudge me in the right direction!
