I already know what you are thinking…or perhaps you are at a loss for words. I sure was.

Breathtaking.

This is the master bedroom at the Atlanta Symphony Associates Decorators Show House and Gardens designed by none other than Mrs. Melanie Turner. Before I could get into an earshot of her voice chatting away with friends around the corner, I knew upon entering that this was her design.

After showering her with compliments, I composed myself enough to ask her where did the vision for all of this grandeur begin. I’m wasn’t surprised by her answer.

Chinois Palais, one the glorious fabrics in Mary McDonald’s latest collection for Schumacher, was the catalyst this interpretation of modern romance. Here’s a closer look.

This one fabric provides the entire bedroom concept design. It’s much like art on fabric with its mural-like qualities. Exotic birds mingle with peonies and cherry blossoms against a soft romantic color palette of creams, grays, and blush.Mary-McDonald-for-Schumacher-

Melanie also chose companion fabrics to upholster an antique settee and throw pillows.Melanie-Turner-for-ASO-Showhouse_2

Let’s pause a moment and take in the chandelier. This is one of two chandeliers in this showhouse that are heavily embellished with quartz stone.

Oh. My. Word! In true Southern lady fashion I clutched my pearls with both hands before taking this picture.Melanie-Turner-for-ASO-Showhouse_4

Unlike my bedroom, you will NEVER see a television over a console in a Show House. I’d liken it to parking a freight train in the middle of a Mercedes-Benz showroom. A duo of antique mirrors Chinese-inspired mirrors, Asian vases filled with cherry blossoms, and foo dog sconces reinforce, and a generous display of wallpaper featuring cherry blossom silhouettes reinforce the ‘Chinois Palais’ design. If you have had a chance to visit the ASO Decorators Show House and Gardens, then you have until May 12th to do so. Each year the committee and designers exceed all expectations and continue to inspire us all.

Special thanks to Tara Murphy and the 360 Media team for the invitation to preview this stately mansion.
