About a month ago fellow interior designer, Courtney Lake introduced me to Joy and Revelry, an premiere online boutique who’s mantra is “inspired by design. powered by social media.” Courtney is one of the six style/social media mavens chosen to handpick beautiful home decor furnishings and accessories for their own virtual storefronts featured on the site. For example, if you love a mix of global inspired homegoods, then you’d love to add any product from Courtney’s Global Chic Collection.
He recently invited me (and two others) to participate in the Joy and Revelry White Box Challenge. We each received the same item from his store and was given the assignment of styling it in our home. So what was the mystery item? It was a cool container that could be utilized as a vase or it could easily stand alone as a sculpture.
I chose to use it as a vase for a faux orchid arrangement in my newly designed master bedroom. Faux? ::insert gasp here:: While I do have a live plant in the room, I also wanted to add a floral to the decorative mix. Purchasing fresh flowers every week can be expensive and besides water would ruin my new vase.
I think this simple arrangement is effective, yet it allows the vase to shine as the center of attention. The vase has a great metallic finish that works well with any finish you put with it. It’s already garnered interest from the kiddos and a compliment from the hubby. I love it beside my favorite bedroom chair.
Be sure to visit Courtney’s store along with the other designers on the site. Each week they add new items that are both affordable and on-trend. For a little incentive to try, here is a coupon code to save 10% off your purchase of items from any of the storefronts. Just use code COL_WHITEBOX_10 at checkout. Offer expires on August 1, 2013.
See how Cassie (yesterday) and Courtney (tomorrow) tackled the White Box Style Challenge.
Happy Decorating!
