It’s been almost 4 months since our first family trip to Jekyll Island and we’re still talking about the experience like it happened yesterday. My husband and I reflect on the proximity to peace and comfort. We certainly enjoy bustling city life in Atlanta, but it’s the natural wonders on Jekyll Island that evoke a sense of calm for us. It is something that cannot be duplicated in a spa—believe me, we tried. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the beauty of a golden Jekyll Island sunrise—romantic, reflective, and meditative.
For our children it was quite the learning experience. We are a homeschooling family and seek opportunities to make every life experience a learning experience. During our stay on Jekyll Island, we easily spent the majority of our time outdoors. From discovering naturally occurring animal life, strolling pristine, sandy shores, to navigating maritime forests and marshes, with a guide of course, Jekyll Island was a science textbook come to life! Providing our children with an opportunity to get up close and personal with turtles, scope out alligators in a marsh, or behold the vast size of an eagle’s nest (while in their natural habitat) were certainly experiences that enhanced their interest in learning.
Even the golf course is home to deer, alligator, and shore birds, which in turn give golfing terms, like birdie and eagle a literal meaning. A round of golf doesn’t get more interesting than this.
If you are looking for an enchanting destination that encompasses natural beauty of the Georgia coastline, I highly suggest you visit.
In the meantime, be sure to check out Jekyll Island’s educational and fun summer camps. If your kiddo is a budding golfer (Golf Camp), junior scientist (Turtle Camp), tennis pro (Tennis Camp), or history buff (Time Travelers Camp), then sign them up for a five-day learning and exploration experience. This is not an overnight camp so it’ll give you another good reason to experience Jekyll, too! There’s plenty for you to do or simply relax while your kid(s) are at camp.
The news gets even better. Jekyll Island is hosting the Happy Camper Giveaway where you can win summer camp for two children, plus a five night, six-day hotel accommodation at The Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island! Contest runs from March 13th-March 31st so enter today! Good Luck!
This post was sponsored by the Jekyll Island Authority (JIA), friends of BluLabelbungalow.com and Erika Ward. You simply cannot put a price tag on quiet, quality time with those you love most—I value it more than rubies. The folks at JIA know this about me and invited our family last year to experience the island. Jekyll Island served as a beautiful backdrop for us in creating golden memories. I’m sure it will for your family also.
Thanks for reading!

Erika
