The Highland House showroom was on my list of must see showrooms during my visit to High Point market. I was pleasantly surprised to find the most colorful, thoughtfully curated vignettes which became catalysts for my latest design project—my own home. Known for their fashion forward fabrics and tailored upholstery, Highland House’s furniture is made in the USA and is synonymous with comfort.
Modern Meets Traditional
Contemporary art from Hidell Brooks Gallery punctuated each space and gave way to some of the most unique color palettes.
Barrie Benson Brings Southern Style with a Modern Flair
Charlotte-based interior designer Barrie Benson debuted her first line with Highland House. The line includes 12 accent chairs, tables, and chest. I was first introduced to Barrie via an October 2007 feature in Domino Magazine and admired her ability to juxtapose modern and traditional styles.
Her Johnny Credenza earned one of my coveted Style Spotters badges for its customizable features.
Made from ceruased oak, natural or dark, the door panels can be made from leather or grasscloth or lacquered with your choice of paint from Benjamin Moore. The credenza dons stunning, handmade hardware of brass and stones designed by jeweler Kat Weeks of Addison Weeks.
“As a designer, I want all my clients’ homes to be different, and I wanted to offer other designers (and retail customers) the flexibility to choose.”
Tailored Trimmings and Sensational Seating
More highlights include fabulous furniture trimmings like this hem detail as well as head-turning prints that’ll make you give florals a second look.
LOVE the floral chairs!
Candice, I honestly was surprised at home much I loved them too! These are DEFINITELY NOT your grandmother’s living room chairs. No offense to the stylish Grandmothers out there!
This is a really nice post. I found it just now as I was looking for info on the Barrie Benson collection for Highland House. I’m impressed by your reporting. Nice job!
