For my aunt, it’s been years since the last bird left the nest. Instead of downsizing she’s decided to refresh areas of the home starting with daughter’s former bedroom. I loved reimagining this room where, as a child, we had countless sleepovers. This time I looked at it through the eyes of a visiting adult. My goal was to create a cozy guest quarters complete with all of the creature comforts one would need when away from home.
The jumping off point was the Cane You Imagine Bed by Caracole. Here’s a detail shot where you can appreciate the handcrafted detail of the hardwood in a wedding dress white finish and caning in a metallic taupe finish.
Next I went to the windows and proposed this print, Bora Bora from Schumacher, for a Roman shade. You may remember us using it on our Tuxedo project.
The next items for consideration were a pair of lamps like these alabaster beauties by Regina Andrew.
Handcrafted furnishings and lighting were way too risky for a child’s room. However investing in statement pieces like these makes more sense now.
We still have to select artwork and bedside tables, but here’s an idea of how the newly designed guest room will look once it’s pulled together.
Neither of us can hardly wait!
