In some of the most simplistic ways, Beth Webb’s book An Eye for Beauty—Rooms that Speak to the Senses conveys her refreshing method of appealing to her clients’ fives senses to create personal sanctuaries for them. During her design process, she fixates on elements extracted from her clients’ lives; their childhood experiences and their passions in life. Beth states, “The design process starts with life-and how we live. There is an art to living well, to elevating the everyday.”
Within the 256 pages of soul stirring words and imagery, Beth unveils her sharpened designs imbued with character, artistry, and sensual color palettes.
Naturally, one of the senses she embraces in her book is sight. When designing a home nestled within a gorgeous landscape Beth makes it a priority to honor Mother Nature, “When views are as transfixing as these, I want to create rooms that compliment them, not compete with them.”
For Beth’s interior design of a summer cottage, planted on Michigan’s Walloon Lake, she described how she focused on opening up the interior of the cottage to its lush nature surroundings. She did this, so tactfully, to maximize the tranquil view of the lake and the luxuriant trees bordering it. With that, a fine mix of texture paired with cerused wood and taupe were incorporated.

An Eye for Beauty continues to captivate readers by including deep revelations concerning the intricate layers of a living space. With her roots anchored by fine art and being a former art dealer, orderly composition floats throughout this living journal. Each page reveals a classic design imbedded with form, structure, and lines. She writes, “I approach the design of a space first through linear elements, via a graphic assessment. Then I layer the components of living on top of those foundational lines.”
For more than two decades, Beth Webb has continued to produce tailored designs that possess her artistic and sensual touch. Her book, An Eye for Beauty will unfold connections that she has formed between our senses and the art of interior design. In that, Beth has even managed to pair those elements with her client’s sole way of being and her impeccable taste of fine art.
You are an inspiration to us all Beth. Kudos to you!
