Our most recent master suite decoration project, Organic Sophistication, helps you to glean fresh ideas for your own calming coastal getaway.
BEFORE
Though the beach was the inspiration for the design, the existing color palette was much too warm.
AFTER
To create an atmosphere reminiscent of a soft, sandy beach the walls and ceiling were painted Benjamin Moore’s Clay Beige. This beautiful neutral color helped to create a serene envelope around the entire master suite.
Rustic warmth and luxurious shimmer
A textural mix of bamboo silk from the coverlet, linen Euro shams and duvet, grass cloth wallpaper, weathered wood, and warm antique bronze finishes together create layers of warmth and sophistication.
Textiles woven from sheep’s wool and cotton embellished with kilim bands, plush fringe, and metallic sequins gives the bedding an artisanal spin.
Shining the spotlight on custom furniture and drapery
Custom furniture pieces elevate any room especially this handsome brass and wood etagere that features both open and closed storage.
The fully upholstered channel-backed bed is also a custom piece. The blue fabric is a performance textile which boasts moisture and stain resistant qualities.
Soft, tailored linen drapery panels adorn windows in both the master bedroom and sitting room. They don a subtle stripe for a touch of pattern without creating too much visual noise.
CONCEPT
Two of our favorite architectural details were the large brick double-sided fireplace and the arched entryways that gave us a generous look into the sitting room.
FINAL REVEAL
Muted blues, sandy brown, and shades of ivory help to connect the two calm, ocean-like rooms.
CONCEPT
To give the sitting room and even greater purpose, we created zones for light work, tv watching, and lounging while reading a good book.
FINAL REVEAL
The sky was our color muse for this decorating project which seemed especially appropriate in the sitting room. With two of the four walls being mostly windows, we took the liberty of painting the ceiling the most perfect shade of blue, Sherwin Williams’ Stardew. Even if the weather outside is less than perfect for a long walk on the beach, the indoors captures the spirit of a summer on the sandy shores.
Turning mundane tasks into pleasurable pursuits
Tasks such as bill paying are made more palatable when sitting pretty at an antique-inspired writing desk.
Mother Nature performs her perfect work even in interior spaces
An arrangement of handcrafted tamarind wood bowls highlight their unique grain and color.
A custom Roman shade’s tribal print sets the mood for moments of privacy, comfort, and relaxation.

What beautiful rooms you create!
Thank you Michelle! So glad they resonate with you.
Love it through and through!!
Thank you Jennifer! How I wish I could open this home up for a tour. The photos are great but it’s nothing like experiencing the space up close and person.
Gorgeous! They surely feel like they’re waking up in a resort daily!
That was the overall goal! Thanks for agreeing that our mission was accomplished!
I love this! Very curious to know how you changed the colors in the bricks around the fireplace?
Hi Janet!
I had to do a double take to see what you meant, ha! We did nothing to change the color of the brick. My only guess is that the white balance may have been off in the original photo. I can also say cooling the paint color may have had an effect on the appearance of the brick as well. Hope this helps!
What a gorgeous retreat! So welcoming and beautiful. Love every detail. I especially love the Roman shade above the tub.
Thank you Veronica! The Roman shade fabric is by Schumacher. Knew it was a winner when the client saw it on my desk and said “I hope this is a part of my design!”
Beautiful relaxing space. Love the colors and beach vibe. Well done Erika!
Many thanks Gena!
What a stunning space, Erika! I love the juxtaposition of the grasscloth wallpaper and silk/bamboo coverlet. All so beautiful, my friend!
Thanks Friends! We are so proud of the end result.
Beautiful room .
