Alisha Gwen Dazzles Showhouse Showdown Viewers with Unexpected Color
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hanks again for your comments via blog and facebook regarding my latest two story drapery design! You know how to make a lady feel good. Since we are on the topic and I’m still catching up with my DVR recordings, I thought I’d share this two story great room designed by Alisha Gwen on HGTV’s new design show competition, Showhouse Showdown.
When the first stroke of green hit the walls, my husband made an audible gasp. Ironically, my tough guy has recently become quite the design snob.
“What the hell is she doing? She can’t win with that!”
I convinced him to hold his criticism until she was complete. I have to admit it was a ballsy choice for a showhouse, but I was intrigued by her overall style.
I love Alisha’s mix of furniture style and scale. Notice she chose accent chairs with a lower back to keep from obstructing the view of the room’s focal point. She saved the higher back chairs for the side of the room. The opposing sofa perfectly balances the scale of the oversized chairs.
Overall this room has more of a feminine appeal, but we both agreed that it was well done. The green hue may not have been my original choice for wall color, but hey you can always paint the walls beige when its time to sell! Until then, live with what you love!
