From setting a tone to anchoring a style, we can’t get enough of rooms that incorporate window treatments.

Recently I gave an interview with The Washington Post how to decorate with confidence using window treatments. They came to the right one–I could go on and on (and I did) about the different types, how to assess your needs for functionality, cost of window treatments, etc. It’s a worthwhile ready especially for the first time buyer.

After the hour plus long interview, I thought of 5 more reasons these seemingly simple swatches of fabric or mechanical slats create such a wow-factor for a room. Here they are:

Structural Fixes Without Demo. If you’re dealing with a small space or a cramped room, you’ll love the advantage that a window treatment brings to shift the perception of size. Usually, a structural impact requires renovations, but creative curtains or dramatic drapes can make small rooms feel roomier. Extending the height of the curtain to start above the window frame pulls the eye upward and creates an illusion that lengthens the wall. You don’t have to let the window size confine your design for treatments!

Color Anchors To Your Room Design

When you design with color, the walls, floors, and windows become your canvas to express the color palette. Whether your palette calls for color-block or pattern to carry the scheme, the options to enhance your color story are endless with window treatments. Single-color panels or inspired patterns pulling in the room colors allow you to layer your design for major impact.

Ample Access to Sun Light

Everyone loves a design that will open a room to provide more natural light. Just because a window has treatment does not mean it’s covered! Window treatments don’t automatically exist to block out sun or cover the windows completely. Using blinds and shades allow you to pull in existing light without sacrificing privacy. From translucent Roman shades to clever shutters, you can adjust and filter to influence the amount of light a room receives.

Set The Tone with Ease

If you love the eclectic mix of textures that comes from Neo-classical or Transitional styles, a window treatment is a cinch to make a bold declaration of your style choice. Particular styles will dictate your fabric choices, and the window treatments are great locations to showcase the unique features of any style. Choose your materials and set the tone for whichever design style you’re following.

Accessorize The Space

Sometimes, spacial limitations or budget decide the options available to use in a room. When there isn’t much in the wallet to devote to a space, then the window treatments are the place to start. New curtains will refresh an old room while installing a cornice and Roman shade where blinds once hung could dramatically alter the look of a space.

What’s Not To Love?!
A swath of bright blue curtain, a cheekily-askance blind slat, or a fabric reminiscent of Grecian columns…fall in love with the myriad of ways window treatments can establish, enhance, or alter a room. Whether your budget is tight or limited, there are always ways to include window treatments into your design and express your style.

Now you, too, will walk into a room, see a window, and squeal at the possibilities; where there’s a window, there’s a treatment that awaits!

If you’re looking to reimagine your home, then we’d love to design and decorate beautiful window treatments that best suit to your style.  Please take advantage of our convenient scheduling platform to schedule a design consultation.
