Hey There!

I’m back as promised with a before and after photo of the Collier Hills dining room! If you missed the reveal of the adjacent living room, then click here to view the dramatic transformation. 

What you’re about to see is a series of quick changes we made to the client’s dining room. These are simple, yet impactful ways for updating your space in just one weekend! Let’s get on with the photos then I’ll give you the details at the end:

 What was the first thing you noticed?

1. The mixed dining chairs? I’ve written about it before (click here) and will continue to recommend it as a way to bring even more character into an eclectic dining space. The two woven chairs are from Ikea! They don’t come with the chair pad, but it’s sold separately under the name “Mariesburg.” I love the texture these woven beauties bring to the space. They also provide cushy seating for conversations that last long after the table’s been cleared.

2. Next we used large-scaled artwork. In a room like this one it’s better to feature a larger piece. Small wall decor tends to look cluttered in a modest space. However, if you only have smaller pieces then be sure to group your arrangement tightly to give the appearance of a larger piece. Got it?

3. Expand your rug options. A round or rectangular rug may not always be the BEST solution for your space. Here, a cowhide was the answer for this odd shaped room. The dark color provided the sophistication needed to upgrade the client’s casual dining room.

4. Add pillows. In the dining room? Yes, in my opinion there’s always room for pillows (smile) but reserve them for the host chairs only. 

5. Last but not least, consider a centerpiece. Handcrafted by Indian artisans, the vase instantly turns to a conversation piece when filled to the brim with hydrangeas. Here’s a closer look…

Unfortunately, my camera died so I can’t show you the framed botanical prints or the styled china cabinet. However, I plan to return to take more photos and will update this post when I do!
