One my most exciting projects right now involves yellow silk curtains.
Yes, YELLOW. SILK. CURTAINS.
Most clients would’ve sent me back to the drawing board with this suggestions, however my Main Street clients are always ready to pull the trigger when it comes to bold color! Remember their master bedroom makeover? So good…
In the past I’ve learned that the decorating decisions you are most nervous about tend to yield the most favorable results. I’m not advising you go willy-nilly with every single impulse, but with careful planning and consideration on how the whole thing will work I know you’d be pleasantly surprised with the end result.
Here are a few more spaces that feature yellow silk curtains. They work no matter your design style. You just have to be open to the option!
This living room is singing a new song thanks to Philip Gorrivan and these gorgeous canary yellow silk draperies. Notice the light gray trim on the valance echoes the furniture’s upholstery and the geometric rug.
At this angle, we get a better look at the equally stunning wallpaper. I love how its large pattern mimics the scale of the area rug! Everything here, both in color and scale are perfectly balanced.
Need to freshen up a room full of dark wood furniture? Yellow silk curtain may again be the key to lightening up a heavy room. Sure yellow is playful, but silk always feels sophisticated in any setting. This room designed by MMR Interiors is no exception.
Here’s another shot of the same room. Every single primary color has been used in this room, however there’s nothing elementary about it. There’s a clever balance of antiques and furniture with historic character. I dare say that yellow acts as a neutral backdrop here. It plays well with other colors shares the glorious sunlight—I mean spotlight.
Contrary to the belief, yellow silk curtains are available on the retail market. Stylist Emily Henderson purchased these curtains from West Elm for a recent master bedroom makeover. The gray upholstered headboard and furniture with clean lines help to keep the room gender neutral.
Often times renters are disappointed to learn that the landlord prohibits painting. However bright curtain options like this instantly turns sadness into sunshine, no?
I’m anxious to see everything come together the Main Street Living Room project, especially hanging the new yellow custom drapery. I’ll be sharing even more details about the design in the upcoming days!
Thanks for reading!
