So the 2015 Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market has officially come and gone but has left me with some great new product resources and inspiration. The show lasts a full week and you actually need every.single.day to tour all of the showrooms. I’m not sure if it’s even humanly possible. I, however, was looking to see what’s new in lighting and accessories. Here’s what captured my eye…
Phillips Collection is known for their oversized statement pieces. The “Broken Egg” wall art series looks as if each egg is illuminated, however it is the gold leaf detail on the inside that provides such a luminous glow.
I’m just waiting for the chance to use of one these “vintage” marquees in a game room. They have a tongue-in-cheek appeal that again makes a fun statement in a home.
Switching gears to more sophisticated looks. I have to say that black and gold is all the rage this year in the accessories market. Also notice they repurposed decorative vases as vessels for fresh flowers. Definitely a look you can try at home.
The lighting in the Regina Andrew showroom pretty much held me captive. See how the light filters through this pair of pendants. The leaf motif almost resembles lace, doesn’t it?
How about these faceted pendants. Couldn’t you see them arranged in a trio over a large kitchen island?
Here’s more black and gold (and white!) inspiration in the Worlds Away showroom. Though very glamorous, this vignette can still be classified as casual elegance thanks to the seagrass carpet underfoot.
Perhaps I can look forward to using a tuffet in my next dining room design. There’s a first time for everything, no?
And wow, this desk. It’s not your average Parsons table. Besides an office, I can easily see this in a foyer, as a sofa table, or used as a bedside table.
Natural elements are timeless including these agate lamps at Codarus.
The Codarus showroom also introduced me to an innovative collection of Art-Deco inspired accessories by Waylande Gregory.
On my way out I captured this bodacious beauty in a room vignette created by Atlanta designer Kerry Howard. I first saw this bed in pictures from High Point Market last October but had never seen it in person until now. This showstopper is the Kensington Bed by Bernhardt Furniture. With palace like proportions I think the name is quite fitting.
I’m still making my way through the many catalogs I picked up along the way. Look for more in upcoming posts.
It’s Friday and with the week I had, I was lucky to crank out this blog post. Next week I’ll show you what I’ve been working on and how helped a BLB reader with a big design dilemma that you probably have too!
Make it a great weekend!
xo,
Erika
