I couldn’t be more excited about how the Savannah Drive great room is taking shape. The overall design is a mix between contemporary and transitional. The color palette is driven by the client’s favorite color combination, teal and chocolate or as I like to say cyan and espresso. Sounds more sophisticated, doesn’t it?

One of the first changes I made the space, which also had a HUGE impact, was to adding architectural details to the walls. The images below are both inspiration photos I shared with the client so she could immediately capture my vision.

So here’s what I’m working with:

Obviously the client was sold on the photos I presented so we’ve added a 12-foot molding on all walls.

…and painted it to its current perfection. The trim was color matched to the existing trim throughout the house, but the wall color above is Gauntlet Gray by Sherwin Williams.

I’ve got some gorgeous paintings going into the space that will really pop against the wall color. Here’s one of them.

And I’ve got not one, but TWO showstopper chandeliers going up…

But first, could someone please tell me why the builder installed a teeny tiny light fixture in a space with 18 foot ceilings?

That’s a rhetorical question.

I know why, but it still burns me to no end. Grrr…

Here’s my remedy to the situation.

This 9-light chandelier with its antiqued sienna finish and handcrafted wood beads. The lovely details and size of the chandelier dims the previous fixture in comparison. Just imagine how much it will elevate the space to truly be the great room it was intended to be.
