How can I save money on window treatments? Inquiring minds want to know!

I answered this very question in a recent article (Easy Fixes for Decorating Dilemmas) I wrote for Costco Connection Magazine and thought I should post it here as well.

The options are endless when it comes to window coverings; however, window placement, frame construction, and other external factors play a deciding role in narrowing your choices. It’s always best to seek professional advice if you are confused about which option is best for your home.

For unusually tall windows (two story windows), there’s no way around custom window treatments. Odd window placements fall into this category also.

For all other windows, ready made options are the way to go! When purchasing ready made drapery, I love to add a semi-custom touch by having a seamstress add special trimmings that tie into the room’s decor.
