Welcome to the Week 6!!! It’s Reveal Day for the One Room Challenge and I could not be more thrilled to present to you the final outcome!

But first, as a reminder, here’s where it all started…

and here is the final result!

ORC Fall 2019 Erika Ward Interiors

Beach-Inspired Backsplash

The kitchen’s mesmerizing backsplash is the perfect backdrop. Like a rare treasure, I discovered this glass mosaic tile with an iridescent quality much like the inside of a shell. Installing the tile to the ceiling makes a grandiose statement about my love of the sea and nature-inspired design elements.

Monsoon II Vent Hood by Zephyr

Fresh Air

The secret to cleaner air and proper kitchen ventilation is underneath the gorgeous custom range hood. This powerful insert, with stainless steel baffles, helps remove grease from the air and protects against potentially harmful airborne particles. Inserts like these are gaining popularity because of the powerful venting it provides even while hidden.

Storage Galore

Most of the kitchen cabinets’ functionality has been vastly improved thanks to integrated cabinet storage. This newly organized space includes base cabinet pullout kits (pictured above), trash pull-out, an adjustable door mounted spice rack, and under sink pull out. Look out for a separate post about the power of an organized kitchen.

Featured products: Base Cabinet Pullout Two Tier Wire Basket Sink and Base Accessories , Double LEGRABOX Waste Containers, Door Storage Adjustable Spice Rack Wall Accessories, Undersink Pullout Towel Holder Sink and Base Accessories, Rev-a-Shelf

Schaub Menlo Park Hardware

All in the Mix

An elegant combination cabinetry hardware adds a ton of subtle, visual interest to a builder’s grade kitchen. The upper cabinets don a faceted knob for a simple grab when opening swinging cabinets. Base cabinets have a combination of both cup pulls and linear handles. Cup pulls are best for used for drawers or lower cabinets when you have a door-integrated pull out like a dishwasher or trash bin. Five-inch handles, installed vertically, signals a door swing. Installed horizontally would signal a pull out function. Though there is a lot going on, the hardware is unified by the polished chrome finish for an overall cohesive look.

Featured products: Menlo Park, Polished Chrome knob, cup pull, 5″ handle, Schaub and Company

Dualing Faucets

Why settle for one faucet when you can have two? The high-arching pro-style faucet is great for filling large pots in the sink. The two-spray pull down feature provides the option of a traditional stream of water or a spray feature perfect for cleaning a large sink.

We drink a lot of water around here. The cold water beverage faucet not only gives another access point to better tasting tap water, but it also makes filling a pitcher easier at the sink vs at the refrigerator.

Featured products: Talis C HighArc Kitchen Faucet, Talis C Beverage Faucet, both by Hansgrohe

Designer Tip: If you have an air switch, soap dispenser, or a dishwasher air gap alongside your standard kitchen faucet, you may prefer to rely solely on your refrigerator’s water dispenser to reduce visual clutter at the sink.

Gresham Park Hudson Valley Lighting

The Light Show

A trio of light fixtures—adjustable wall sconces, a linear chandelier, and flush mounts supply glamorous flavor accents and breathtaking spotlights. Our rustic, 90-inch breakfast table commanded a well-proportioned chandelier to match it’s scale. We love the weight of and polish the Gresham Park Chandelier which helped me to achieve the juxtaposition of rough and refined.

Latham Wall Sconce Hudson Valley Lighting

In lieu of under cabinet lighting, two adjustable wall sconces flank the vent hood and allows for directional light .

Hartland Hudson Valley Lighting

Lastly, I don’t recall seeing a flush mount more impressive than the Hartland. Delicate crystal isn’t typically what you’d find in a kitchen, however the bold metal gives a weightiness that allows it to stand on its own.

Featured products: Gresham Park chandelier, Latham sconce, Hartland flush mount

Lifecore Flooring

Utterly Floored

Nothing could have warmed up our new white kitchen better than the hand-scraped, acacia engineered hardwood floors. Not only do they coordinate perfectly with our existing kitchen table, the 7-inch wide planks makes our kitchen floor feel seamless and even more spacious.

Featured product:  Abella Moderna, LIFECORE

Fabricut Drapery Fabric

Fabricut Roman Shade

Fabric Softener

What adds back softness into a room full of wood, steel, and hard surfaces than free flowing drapery? I love to usher the outdoors in via Roman shade and custom drapery panels in a navy, chinoiserie printed fabric.

Featured product: 04235 Navy, Fabricut

Keeping It Cozy

The fireplace mantel and surround received a much needed facelift. The new mantel is 12″ higher than the former and the new tile marble mosaic surround and hearth reigns supreme, classic, and cool.

Featured product: Hampton Polished Barrington Marble Mosaic Tile, The Tile Shop

Family Matters

This entire renovation is dedicated to the loves of my lives–my husband Chris and our five children. Quality time is always a high priority for us and mealtimes is when we have a chance to reconvene after a long day. Here, we not only nourish our bodies, but we also nourish our spirits.

Thanks to Rustic White Interiors for capturing our new kitchen so beautifully!!
