SCALLOPED EDGES

I can’t even begin to tell you the fun I had last April as a Style Spotter for High Point Market, the largest home furnishings trade show in the world. I spent four days scouring over 2000 exhibits from vendors representing more than 100 countries. Whew, that was no small feat! Part of my assignment was contributing to a beautifully done 22-page guide called the High Point Market Style Report. You can download it here.

In the report, I discussed two design elements I saw repeatedly throughout the show one being SCALLOPED EDGES.

The curvaceous scallop motif made a splash at Spring High Point Market, gracing door panels on stately sideboards like the Salon Media Console from Bernhardt Furniture.

On case goods, scalloped edges donned metallic finishes, suggesting the stunning iridescence of fish scales.

The quintessential feminine detail was also featured on the apron of the A La Francaise Dining Table by Caracole.

I also spotted the scalloped silhouette on side chairs, sofas, and ottomans like the Channing Chair from C.R. Laine and the Justinian Chair from Selamat.
