Happy New Year Everyone! Before I kick off a new year, I love to take time to review and assess the previous year.

BluLabel-Bungalow-PopularPost-of-2014 copy

There’s one thing that never occurred to me—even after 5 years of blogging. I never thought to examine my most popular blog posts.

::Slaps hand over forehead::

Crazy, huh?

After all, this valuable information lets me know what you like so I can give you more of it.  I did however conduct a survey last year that pretty much echoes the results from gathering BluLabel Bungalow’s most popular posts. You all love a good before and after project reveal! Instead of using number of comments to rank each post I used Good Analytics to gather info about web traffic, i.e. pageviews,  unique visitors, returning visitors, bounce rate, etc.

Here are my top ten most popular posts of 2014 (You can click each title to read the post):

1. Before and After Vinings Living Room – (08/13/13)

2. Smart Ideas for your Small Apartment Balcony – (05/07/13)

3. Before and After: Builder’s Box Entry Gets Major Upgrade – (1/30/14)

4. Lighten Up: Living with Dark Leather Furniture – (9/4/12)

5. 7 Ideas for Updating an Old Kitchen – (8/20/12)

6. (Another) Two Story Great Room Makeover – (9/30/10)

7. DIY: How to Make A Book Sling – (6/3/2012)

8. Weekend Decorating: Organizing Life’s Important Paperwork – (8/3/12)

9. Superior Avenue Master Suite Makeover – (2/11/14)

10. 10 Steps to Stylish Christmas Decor with Confetti Style – (11/13/12)

Based on the list, here are five observations made about what’s working:

  • My archives have great web traffic! Out of the top ten posts listed, only two were from 2014. Apparently my 2012 content is still king, and even a post from four years ago is still attracting new visitors to the blog.
  • Everyone loves a good before and after project reveal. Four of the most popular posts document the process of transforming lackluster spaces into beautiful rooms. There are some great takeaways for the reader on how to achieve the look in their home.
  • You like lists posts: Blog posts that summarize information allow you to read them quickly and immediately identify decorating solutions.
  • Do-it-yourself (DIY) projects are a hit.  No surprise there. Perhaps, I will include a few more throughout the year.
  • Lifestyle posts are important, too.  The post about organizing life’s paperwork came about because I was drowning in my family’s documents and needed some direction on getting it together. I suppose I wasn’t the only one who needed to get their affairs in order.

With this info, I’m looking forward to creating some even better posts for you all that assist you in creating a more enjoyable life and a beautiful home. Here’s to 2015!
