A common symbol of strength and endurance, it’s no wonder why oak is a top species for wood doors. Oak wood doors are some of the more economically priced and readily available wood doors compared to other hardwoods and add charm to any home in both interior and exterior settings.

Each time I visit a home with a stately wood door, I can’t wait to see the goodness that lies within.

The combination of oak and stone is not uncommon and mostly seen in traditional design. But here, it’s the integration of cut glass and black stain that shift this door into contemporary territory.  What I love most is the mix of natural materials, wood, glass, stone, and brass [the hardware is cherry on top].

Painted doors tend to be what I see most in builder’s grade homes and I get excited when I see them covered in darker hues. But nothing tickles my fancy more that a stained wood interior door that serves both function and style. The oak doors in this living space become part of the room’s decor and reinforces the designer’s play on natural elements.

Custom doors are a wise investment and hold its value in resale. In this Chicago high rise, white oak doors with a cerused finish offers rustic refinement that let’s you know a designer has graced this space. When your doors have an air of sophistication, your furniture [as seen above] should have an attitude to match.

Oak is versatile, timeless, and can be used in any setting from traditional to modern. The features that categorize each design style are the color of the stain, construction, and its integration with other materials such as metal, glass, or stone.

Which of these four oak door designs is your favorite? What is your impression of wood doors, interior or exterior?
