DREAMGIRLS AT THE FOX THEATER
Tuesday night I had the pleasure of gathering with Atlanta bloggers for the opening night of DreamGirls at the fabulous Fox Theater. Tammie Reed and Brave Public Relations graciously provided me with 4 tickets, two of which I put up for grabs on my "DreamGirls Dream Big Giveaway," the other I used to invite my mother for a bit of quality time!
The show was AWESOME! From dazzling gowns, to the mesmerizing lights, and finally the showstopping cast with the strongest voices I've ever heard.
The cast equally shared the stage, but the woman who "brought the house down" had to be Moya Angela who played "Effie White." Effie's character was complex, very emotional and demanded a range of heartfelt songs belted out effortlessly by Ms. Angela. Another interesting and hilariously funny character was James "Thunder" Early played by Chester Gregory. He reminded me of a cross between Rick James and James Brown with his provocative dance moves and colorful stage presence.
DreamGirls tells the tale of 4 strong music hopefuls and teaches lessons about humility, forgiveness, love, redemption, and the power of a dream.
The play runs through October 17th so hurry to get your tickets for the show of the season.
Congratulations to the cast and crew for an unforgettable opening night. And thanks again to Tammie and Brave P.R. for a night of laughter, joy, and quality entertainment with my Mom.
